The Barbados Photographic Workshop
Develop your photographic talents while enjoying beautiful Barbados...
Former New York fashion photographer Bob Kiss has made Barbados his home since
1993, exploring through his art this sublime island with its brilliant light.
Now you are invited to participate in Bob's one week winter workshops. Develop
your vision and improve your craft while discovering the authentic Barbados. The
workshop is small to ensure personalized attention. Participants work at their
own pace, so whether this is your introduction to photography, or you are an
advanced amateur, or young professional, you will benefit from Bob's experience
and enthusiastic guidance.
About the Workshop
During your time in Barbados you will create images from a wealth of
peaceful rural views, breath taking seashores, historic architecture and
charming people. You will explore your personal vision and enhance your
technical skills and composition. The island is a tapestry of color; yet its
vivid light is captivating in black and white.

What to Expect
Known for its idyllic white sand beaches and calm, turquoise sea, Barbados
also reveals a dramatic side to those adventurous enough to look. The workshop
will feature early morning expeditions to the white chalk cliffs at Cove Bay,
walks along the old railroad track-bed through sleepy fishing villages on the
spectacular east coast, Ragged Point lighthouse and visits to the potters at
Chalky Mount. Expect to rise early - we'll be on the road by 5.30 a.m. in order
to catch the light. Return to the hotel at 9.00 for breakfast. Then there will
be a review of the preceding day's photos, and a discussion about the upcoming
afternoon's shoot. From noon to 2 p.m. is your own. We set out again in the
afternoon. Barbados' locations are varied, so expect to hike through gullies,
visit rural rum shops and colonial mansions, and experience the evening light on
some of the most magnificent beaches in the world. |

Cost
Workshop tuition is US$900. This includes transportation to locations.
Participants pay for the taxi to and from the airport (about US$11 plus
tip, each way) and for Hotel accommodation and
lab fees separately.

Discounted accommodations are available at the beautiful Casuarina Hotel, an

Enrollment
Workshops are limited to 12 students. It is best to enroll early since the
groups are small. We ask a 50% deposit to reserve your place. You can enroll by
e mail, telephone, or fax 246-423-6601.
Workshop Cancellation/ Refunds
If you must cancel for any reason, please notify us by 45 days before the start
of the workshop. We will reimburse your fee less US$100 for administrative
expenses. After this you will forfeit your deposit. No refunds will given once
the workshop has started.

- A selection of your work
for the orientation, to help identify your level of experience and to measure
your progress at the end of the workshop.
- Enough film for the week - about 12
rolls.
